How much does an SMS (text message) cost?
That depends on the SMS length and network. To the most countries and networks an SMS costs 1 SMS-credits for the first 160 symbols, and the same amount for every further 150 symbols. Please see Prices & Coverage for exact figures for your country and network.
Are there any monthly costs?
No. There are no monthly costs and no minimum volume of SMS you need to send. With SMSMAIL.COM you only pay for the SMS you send.
Do I need additional software to send SMS by email?
No. You don’t need to install any additional software. With SMSMAIL.COM you can send SMS by using your favorite email program. It’s the same as sending email.
Why did my SMS not arrive?
Usually because the mobile phone number was written incorrectly. Please check that you wrote the number correctly and that you included the country code. Country code +44 (England) and mobile number 779 484XXXX is 44779484XXXX@smsmail.com The mobile phone you are trying to reach could be in a zone without coverage. Or it’s network is failing.
Do I get a delivery notification after my SMS arrived?
Yes, after your SMS has been delivered you get a delivery notification by email once your sms was delivered. Delivery notifications cost 1/4 SMS-credit (0.01€) per notification. Delivery notifications can be switched off by sending an email to stop(at)smsmail.com. Not all countries and networks allow delivery notifications.

How can I see the amount of SMS-credits I have on my email account?
The amount of SMS-credits remaining on your email account is part of every delivery notification. You will also be notified by email if you account has 20 SMS-credits left or less.
Can I write my SMS text into the subject of my email?
Yes. The subject of the email is also delivered as SMS. But you can also leave the subject blanc if you like.
How long can my SMS be?
An SMS can contain up to 1380 symbols in 7-bit (eg. English) and 600 symbols in 16-bit (eg. Chinese). To the most countries and networks an SMS costs 1 SMS-credits for the first 160 symbols (70 in 16-bit) and the same amount for every further 150 symbols (67 in 16-bit). What is a Sender ID?
The Sender ID is what appears on the mobile phone of the person receiving your message. The Sender ID lets the receiver know from whom the SMS was sent.
Can I chose a Sender ID other than my mobile phone number?
Yes, you can choose any Sender ID you like. For example: events, company names, domain names… In order to prevent spoofing and fraud, Sender ID's other than mobile numbers must first be approved by us. Send us an email to contact(at)smsmail.com and we will change your Sender ID for you. Numeric Sender IDs must have less than 12 symbols. Setting your own Sender ID is not possible in all countries and networks.
